Buzz Up or Buzz Off?
Posted by keirsun on February 27, 2008 at 2:39 PM
The Yahoo! hive is abuzz this week with the launch of its social news service, Yahoo! Buzz. While Yahoo! touts the site as a "brand new social experience that unites people with the most remarkable and timely content from websites across the Internet," the experience itself feels similar to Digg, Propeller and the entire ecosystem of online news sharing sites. Buzz users can vote for or against (buzz up or buzz down) a specific news....

The Big Head and Long Tail of Craigslist
Posted by geoff on August 07, 2007 at 4:37 PM
While it's not usually included in the list of hot social media sites, make no mistake about it, Craigslist is most certainly a social site. One of the reasons marketing departments tend to shy away from Craigslist, however, is because users have the ability to cry spam on every single posting. Honest, well-crafted ads by online retailers or international brick and mortar stores looking to advertise something special, however, can be met with great results.....

After all, most of the well-publicized social community sites don’t always address a company’s ideal demographic; and setting up a profile in hopes to be found can seem like a tremendous shot in the dark. Leveraging the community aspect of social media in a way that addresses your already-established target audience, however,....
